There’s nothing
like plein air painting, working on location directly from the inspiration
of nature. All your senses are involved and “in the moment”.
It’s what helps give plein air paintings a sense of place
that is missing from most studio work. The human eye can pick up on a far
greater range of tonal values and color subtleties than a camera, and these
become part of the painting. It gives plein air paintings something special
that cannot be achieved any other way.
This is what has made plein air painting so popular. I
think it is evident in this example, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I
enjoyed painting it in this beautiful setting.
