SADDLEBACK MOUNTAIN, MY 1st PAINTING OF 2016
SADDLEBACK MOUNTAIN, MY FIRST PAINTING OF 2016
PAINTED EARLY ON NEW YEAR'S DAY
Original Oil Painting on a 7x5 inch Masonite panel.
I have always enjoyed getting out with my plein air gear first thing on New Year's Day each year, to record the changes in the landscape from year to year. This is a painting of Saddleback Mountain and the foothills and farmland in the foreground. However it's getting more and more difficult to find vistas like this to paint, because the land is being developed for housing tracts at an alarming rate. Many of my most treasured painting locations have now disappeared and this pristine landscape will soon go the same way. Enjoy it while you can, and HAPPY NEW YEAR! - - - Tom Brown
