PLEIN AIR MINIATURE by TOM BROWN
I always enjoy painting miniatures like this. It’s a great way to discipline yourself to see only the big picture, the essence of the subject. The “core idea” of it. And skip the fussy little details that are completely unnecessary anyway. These paintings are like little jewels; they really sparkle.
Sometimes I’m tempted to use them in the studio as the basis for larger works. But there’s something about the simplicity of paintings this size that actually captures the real heart of the subject best of all.
