Composition, brushwork and color were the central points here. I really wanted the color to sing. And I wanted dynamic physical texture on the surface of this piece to create additional visual interest, hence the “heavily loaded brush” I used. This was a demo painting I did during a private workshop I taught for a small group who came from out of town. It was painted on a 5x7 primed cardboard that was mounted on a foam board panel.
