There are many reasons an artist might choose to paint a subject.
Perhaps it triggers a special memory or mood. Or there may be an intriguing story within the painting. Other times it can be something as simple as the classic beauty of the subject itself.
The latter reason applies to this particular painting. It shows palm trees gently swaying in a balmy breeze, overlooking a peaceful ocean vista. This was painted in Laguna Beach, California on a quiet, restful day. My easel was set up next to the Las Brisas restaurant.
It is a larger canvas than I normally paint outdoors on location. Larger canvases take longer to complete and so they present a greater challenge. But on this particular occasion I was in the zone and it all came together perfectly. Enjoy the moment. And thanks for looking.
