This painting is a study in contrasts and it was a joy to paint. It has contrasts in dark and light values. In thick and thin areas of paint on the surface. In crisp and soft edges.

It has contrasts in vibrant and muted colors. In bold sweeping strokes contrasting with tiny detail strokes. In warm and cool color temperatures.

At the heart of it all, this is a very simple subject and composition. But it’s a cheerful little jewel that will add a bit of sparkle to any room.
