BALBOA ISLAND, NEWPORT BEACH by TOM BROWN

The abstract patterns of color and value were my primary interest here. That's what drew me to paint it.
     This painting was done entirely with a palette knife, which is an outstanding tool for capturing the abstract qualities of a scene like this and skipping all the fussy details.
     I thought artists who follow my work would find it interesting to see a photo of the subject as the camera saw it for comparison with my artistic interpretation of it so I’ve included that below. Enjoy!
