CHICAGO CLOUD GATE LANDMARK SCULPTURE by TOM BROWN
I’ve wanted to paint this for years and finally got the opportunity. I have always loved the shiny chrome-like surface and the way it reflects Chicago’s famous skyline and the clouds above.
“Cloud Gate” is a 110-ton elliptical sculpture forged of a seamless series of highly polished stainless steel plates inspired by liquid mercury.
Beneath the sculpture is a 12-foot-high arch which forms a “gate” to the concave chamber beneath the sculpture. It provides an invitation to visitors to touch its mirror-like surface and see their image reflected back from a variety of perspectives. The sculpture is among the largest of its kind in the world, measuring 66-feet long by 33-feet high.
This painting will become a memorable keepsake for anyone who has experienced this stunning sculpture in person, and it will add a touch of color and life to any room. Enjoy it, and thanks for stopping to look. Questions or comments? Email me here: tombrownstudio@cox.net
