Sometimes it’s fun to push the boundaries and see what happens. Especially with something as delicate as a rose. I viewed these as an abstract, looking only at masses of tone and color. And I deliberately muted (grayed-down) the hues in the entire composition. To further push the boundaries I painted primarily with a knife. It was risky, but somehow it worked! Hope you agree.
