LAGUNA CANYON PLEIN AIR LANDSCAPE by TOM BROWN

8x10 inch California impressionist
plein air oil painting by Tom Brown
Erosion on the canyon wall has revealed massive slabs of white rock, which creates a dramatic backdrop for this canyon composition.
I painted today’s picture while scouting locations for the Plein Air Workshop I will conduct which starts in a couple of weeks. This is one of the spots where we will paint during the workshop.
If you’re a Southern California artist you may want to join us. I’ll show how to simplify and capture the emotional content of a scene like this, including lessons on composition, color-mixing, brushwork and more. Email me for details if you are interested.
