During a plein air workshop I recently taught we painted beneath shelter due to heavy rains pouring down. Despite the weather we found plenty of beautiful subject matter to paint. This was the scene I chose.

The weather created diffused lighting and muted colors throughout the landscape, lending a sense of peace and serenity. And despite the heavy rains (rare for our area of Southern California) we painted in complete comfort beneath an open-sided shelter with wonderful views of the landscape.

These small treasures make terrific Holiday gifts, and they are very reasonably priced at the moment.
