NEWPORT BEACH PIER BY TOM BROWN

5x7 inch original oil painting
by Tom Brown
A camera cannot capture feelings about a subject. It simply records everything with equal emphasis, including what should be left out or what should be emphasized.
The way an artist filters a subject through his creative vision is what determines the outcome of a painting, and whether or not the subject is interesting or emotionally compelling.
At first glance, this scene may have appeared as a desolate area with little opportunity to provide potential subject matter for a painting.
But when I looked with a creative mind I found this interesting arrangement of shapes and colors that just begged to be painted. Despite the gloomy weather on this particular morning I was quite pleased with this little piece. It has a very restful and serene feeling about it. I hope you like it too.
Thanks for stopping,
Tom Brown
