A quiet canyon road zigzags into the distance, passing beneath an old railroad bridge that is warmed by the late afternoon sun. Long shadows creep across the road, lending additional interest to the foreground.
Recently I created a number of plein air paintings on location in Santiago Canyon. This scene also spoke to me while I was exploring the area but I didn’t have time to paint it that day so I shot a photo.
The other evening I used that photo as the basis of this painting during an oil painting workshop I conducted. This painting has real charm and interesting surface texture. If you are interested in purchasing it, email me at: tombrownstudio@cox.net

I like the way the road leads you in to this painting... even though the shadows cut across it.
