MONKEY WRENCH, YIN AND YANG PAINTING BY TOM BROWN

“YIN AND YANG”
6x8 inch original oil painting
By Tom Brown

This painting is a study in contrasts. Contrasts in strength and durability, in textures, in light and shadow, in size and weight of objects. Surface materials. And more.

The frailty of the baby sprout contrasts with the dead weight of a heavy steel wrench. The shaft of light contrasts with a soft shadow falling across the wrench. Unyielding concrete gives way to a delicate plant.

Somewhere in all this is a metaphor for life, I suppose. Things to meditate upon. Or maybe just some fun stuff to paint. Whatever.

As always, let me know if this delights you too. Or if you want it. tombrownstudio@cox.net

So casually powerful, I really love this painting, the meaning of it, of life superseeding, surviving all of our contrived dominance, our concretinization. Our tools of civilization vs. natures tools of perpetuation. Your mind is an amazing phenomena. Thank you for being you. Nancy (Brilliant, is such an understatement.)
