I spotted this gentleman reviewing long lists while sitting at an outdoor café. He looked like a health-conscious “California” version of Santa Claus, and I couldn’t resist painting him on the spot.

I have a little paintbox that sits in my lap as I work, and I grabbed it from the car and went to work without being noticed.

Santa was virtually motionless the entire time, completely unaware as I painted him from a few tables away. Hope I was on his list of “good boys and girls.”
