This painting was done on-site, working directly from nature (en plein air). Plein air paintings are very desirable for a number of reasons.

Plein air paintings allow artists to better capture the feeling of a place, or the mood of the moment. It is easier for an artist to see the variations in colors and use them for a more lively painting than might be created in the studio when working from photos. Painting on location also helps the artist focus on simplifying the composition and distilling the scene into the essential elements that caught the eye.

This little jewel is an excellent example. I was very pleased with the composition in this one, as well as the colors and brushwork in it. I hope you like it also.

Thanks for looking.
