Last evening I had the distinct pleasure of meeting the famous Bill Tapia of Hawaiian ukulele fame, and enjoyed his lively performance with Pat Enos’ group “The Smokin’ Menehunes” at the Catalina Fish Kitchen in Huntington Beach. Bill Tapia will be 101 years old on January 1st but he’s still a youngster on stage!

The Smokin' Menehunes play the swinging jazz songs of the golden age of Hawaiian music (Waikiki in the 1940's), and their performances are a real treat. Check them out if you’re in the area.

Today’s happy thought:
Hawaiian music

Real Hawaiian music is the best.
Like two guys sitting on the lanai at Maunaolu College in Maui is 1962 playing slack key for hours after dinner. Good memories. Living long is good too. If eveyone lived to be 102 --these folks would have died in the year:
John Singer Sargent 1958
Sigmund Freud 1958
Einstein 1999
Winslow Homer 1948
Billy the Kid 1960
Hitler 2000
Teddy Roosevelt 1960
Childe Hassan 1961
