MALE FIGURATIVE by TOM BROWN

CLICK HERE to grab this one. This is an oil painting on a special heavyweight paper that can be framed. It is worth noting that dating back to the 17th century artists have created oil paintings on paper, which are still displayed in major museums and are in perfect condition. I work this way when doing studies or to explore possibilities because I can frame them when I get a “keeper” like this. And because these studies are on paper I price them very inexpensively, to fit any budget. There is always room for one more small painting on your walls. This painting is one of a kind; don’t let it get away. If you’re interested CLICK HERE to grab this one.

WORKSHOP NOTES by TOM BROWN

In my workshop last evening we practiced how to paint figures that are a part of an urban scene, interior or landscape. Figures like that don’t need the refined anatomy of a painting where the figure is the primary focus. They can be greatly simplified.

The image here is a page from the follow-up notes I sent to students in my workshop. I send notes like this to my students to help enrich their experience and to hopefully lock in some of the things I teach.

I thought it would be interesting to show this single page from my notes to my students.
