PLEIN AIR LANDSCAPE by TOM BROWN
“THE SONG OF
NATURE”
Birds chwibbering softly in treetops, twigs snapping
underfoot, the gentle rustling of something unseen in dried grasses, and the
soft buzz of bees in the air … these are the sweet melodies Nature provides an
outdoor painter. The simple joy of painting is a small part of the total
experience. Click HERE

PLEIN AIR LANDSCAPE by TOM BROWN
Birds were constantly riding the updrafts as I painted this. I hadn't even noticed them until I was putting the final touches on it. And they made a delightful addition to the painting. 8x10 inches, oil on board available HERE

LANDSCAPE SKETCHBOOK STUDY by TOM BROWN
This is another of my small sketchbook studies, done entirely with the palette knife. Painting with a knife is always enjoyable, especially for small quick sketchbook studies. The knife creates strong, dynamic strokes and texture. And it’s a terrific way to mix precise colors. For this study I used oil paints on a sheet of Mixed-Media paper from my sketchbook. The painted area is approximately 6x4 inches on an 8.5 x 5.25 inch page. Click HERE to see more.

TREE STUDY by TOM BROWN
I love to sketch and paint whatever catches my eye, and often use oil paints in my sketchbook when doing this. This is one of my sketches, a quick study of a tree that I found interesting because of the colors and lighting. This was not an attempt to create a finished composition; it's simply a study to capture the look of the tree and some of the surrounding colors in the sky. For this study I used oils on a sheet of Multi-Media paper from my sketchbook. Most of it was done with a palette knife, and I used a small brush for the final touches of some limbs and branches. BIRDS RIDING THE THERMALS by TOM BROWN
Birds were constantly riding the updrafts as I painted this. I hadn’t even noticed them until I was putting the final touches on it. And they made a delightful addition to the painting. I love how this one turned out, and it will quickly disappear and become part of my personal collection if the auction is overlooked. So grab it fast if it speaks to you. This is an 8x10 oil on board, available HERE
