VIDEO & PLEIN AIR KNIFE PAINTING BY TOM BROWN

"SUNSHINE AND FRESH AIR"
5x7 INCH PALETTE KNIFE
PLEIN AIR OIL PAINTING
BY TOM BROWN

This painting was done exclusively with a palette knife during an outdoor workshop I conducted for other artists. The afternoon light brought out rich colors in the mountains, foothills and trees - and that's what I wanted to capture in this little jewel.

I like to alternate between painting with a palette knife and a using brush. Alternating between the two painting methods keeps my work fresh in each medium.

For a short time this piece is very affordably priced. Email if you're interested:

TOM BROWN VIDEO & PLEIN AIR KNIFE PAINTING

"RED SAILS IN THE SUNSET"
5x7 INCH PALETTE KNIFE OIL PAINTING
BY TOM BROWN

SOLD

I like to alternate between painting with a palette knife and using a brush. Each is unique, and alternating between the two painting methods keeps my work fresh in each medium. This one was done with a palette knife, and it really sizzles with color.

This little jewel has to be seen and held in person to be fully appreciated. For a short time it is very affordably priced. Email if you'd like it: tombrownstudio@cox.net.

By the way, I painted this using my custom pochade paint box that everyone is talking about. Click the type above this image to watch the video about my pochade box.

TOM BROWN VIDEO & PLEIN AIR KNIFE PAINTING

"BENEATH A BIG SKY"
5x7 INCH PLEIN AIR PALETTE KNIFE PAINTING
BY TOM BROWN

I painted this breath-taking scene using a palette knife and my custom pochade paintbox that everyone is talking about. (Click the type above this image to watch the video about my pochade paintbox.)

Using that equipment let me set up and begin painting within moments, to capture the essence of the scene before it changed.

I like to alternate between working with a palette knife and my more customary approach to oil painting where I use a brush. Each is unique, and alternating between both approaches keeps my work fresh in both mediums.

If you would like this piece for your wall, email tombrownstudio@cox.net.

Thanks for looking.

TOM BROWN PALETTE KNIFE LANDSCAPE

"A TRIO OF TREES"
5x7 inch Original Oil
Palette Knife Painting
by Tom Brown

To purchase, email tombrownstudio@cox.net

Palette knife painting is so direct I think of it as the "shorthand" version of painting. There is no setup time, I simply open my paintbox and paint. No brushes, solvents or other equipment are needed.

And the results are stunning. Colorful and dramatic jewels with "wall power." These little paintings capture the true soul of the subject; just compare this painting with the photo of the scene.
